Use OSS in Proprietary Software—Safely

Many powerful open-source modules are available under copyleft licenses like (A)GPL, which require you to open-source your own code. A CodeLibra license lets you use the module in your proprietary software without the copyleft restrictions.

What does a CodeLibra license include?

Full Commercial Rights

Use the module in SaaS, commercial products, internal tools—any lawful purpose. Create derivative works, modify the code, and distribute as part of your products.

No Copyleft Requirements

Use (A)GPL-licensed modules in proprietary software without being required to release your source code. Keep your codebase private, build freely, and breathe easy.

Perpetual License for Covered Releases; 12 Months of Updates

When you subscribe, you're licensed for the current release plus all releases published during your subscription (usually 12 months). These licenses don't expire when your subscription ends—you can use the licensed versions forever.

The CodeLibra Subscription Model

Year 1 (Subscription Active)
v1.0 v1.1 v1.2
Licensed perpetually
Year 2 (Subscription Expired)
v1.3
Not licensed (renew to access)

Subscription gives you access to new releases. While your subscription is active, you receive licenses to every new version the developer publishes.

Licenses are perpetual. Even after your subscription expires, you retain the right to use all versions that were released during your subscription period.

Renew anytime. If a new version comes out that you need, simply renew your subscription to get access.

Common Questions

Is it really safe to use (A)GPL code under a CodeLibra license?

Yes. Even though the code is available under (A)GPL, your paid CodeLibra license lets you use the module in proprietary software without open-sourcing your own code.

How many licenses do I need?

Every CodeLibra license covers the entire organization that pays for the license. No seat restrictions, no metering, no audits.

Do my customers need their own licenses?

Not if they're just using your product. Customers only need their own license if they need to develop with the module themselves—your license covers use, not downstream development.

Can the developer raise prices on me?

Price changes only affect subscription renewals (future releases). Your license to existing releases is locked in at the price you paid, and you keep those rights forever.

Does my license include support from the developer?

No. Code licensed through CodeLibra is provided "as-is" with no maintenance commitment by the developer. Add-on support and maintenance plans will be available soon.

What happens if the developer abandons the project?

Your licenses remain valid. You can continue using licensed versions indefinitely. The developer cannot revoke your rights.
